Product demo vs explainer video

Compare a real workflow demonstration with an explainer, then decide whether a launch promo better fits your goal, materials and budget.

Choose a demo when viewers need to see actual steps and a result. Choose an explainer when they need to understand a problem, concept or benefit. Choose a launch promo when the immediate goal is interest and a next action. One film can combine elements, but its scope must be agreed.

These are planning distinctions, not a claim that one format always costs less or converts better. Solivo currently has no verified real software demo in its public portfolio. Confirm feasibility from your materials before ordering.

When a launch promo is the better starting point

For an announcement, waitlist or feature release, introduce one benefit and one closing action. A promo may show real screens briefly without explaining every step. A full walkthrough is separately scoped.

If you need both

Decide whether one short demonstration supports the main story or whether buyers need two different films. List each purpose, runtime, aspect ratio and language before comparing prices. A single-video order does not automatically include a demo and explainer.

Bring the materials you have

Software teams should provide approved screenshots and complete recordings with synthetic data. Hardware teams should provide real demonstrations. If you only have a concept or website, ask what can be illustrated and what evidence is missing.
